In reply to yours of the 30th all relating to the duties of Q.M. here. I desire to say that if I had an additional clerk for the Q.M. and Subsistence Department, one whom I know to be honest and upon whom I could rely to do the business correctly, I could assume the responsibilities of A.A.Q.M. & A.C.S. in addition to my present duties. 
When the Registration of voters is complete I can obtain such a clerk here in the person of J. A. Yardy, an old Union Q.M. clerk but now appointed Registrar for Greene & Hale Cos. I can secure him for $110.00 per month. Should much prefer to have Capt O'Connor retained in his present position until then;
