her house her Husband Mr Robert Rodgers was joking to Ellen about her child and about Moses being its father when Ellen stated that Moses was not the father of the child, who she said was a better looking man than Moses ever dared to be. 
She further says that Mr. Foster & others frequently joked Moses about being the father of "John Bell" and that on one occasion she heard Moses say that he had a wife on the place, to wit, the woman Ann, and that John Bell was not his child.
She further says that she has heard Ellen the Mother of John Bell, say both before and after his birth that Moses was not his father. 
She further says that her attention was attracted to the Boy "John Bell" by the great interest which Mrs. Foster the wife of Dr. J.T. Foster manifested in the child.
