I have the honor to enclose herewith a letter asking advice as to the proper course to pursue when a freedmans share in a crop is attached for rent of land to their employer. I have another similar case on hand with a prospect for more. Please advise what course to pursue. 
As the existing laws of the State favor the Landlord at the expense of the Laborer, and will undoubtedly work great injury to many freedmen if enforced, I would respectfully suggest Head Quarters making the labor of farm hands a prior Lien upon the crop raised by them, and in cases where they work for a share in the crop, relieving their portion from all liabilities
