Dear Sir
I am compel to report [[strikethrough]] to you [[/strikethrough]] a case to you which occured in Elmore County Chaney Hathie beat Harriet a freedmen her son work with Lett Daniel all this year never he woud pay the boy anything he is a good boy  Mr Crossland [[?]] knowing to the contract sasy that the boy ought to have every cent that is due him.  Mr Crossland says that after the crop was divided Daniel taken and sold the boys part of the crop  Hariet his mother went to Mr John Brooks the Justice and he sent her to wright another Justice of the same beat, and Wright send her to the Constable and the constable sent her back to Wright and then Write issued papers and put them into her (Hariet) hands and told her to execute them and charged her fifty cents for it. and then followed her and in the presense of Mr. Crossland taken the papers from her (Harriet) before she executed them.  James Ferrell & John Crossland are [[?]] to these facts.  I merely state these facts to you because of the injustice done to the woman and her son and also dont like have such officers in office if they will do injustice to one they will to another}
