John Lasseter a freedman of Calhoun Co states under oath that his wife Rose Lasseter having lately left him and having taken up with Washington Tonkin, a colored man from Eufaula Georgia has caused the latter to come to his house in Calhoun Co on the 13th inst and in his absence to decoy of his and her two children, Anderson 9 years old and Gilbert 11 years old & carry them to Eufaula Ala, where they are now living with him (W Tonkin) and their mother Rose  As she has left him without any cause he regretfully request that the case may be investigated and the children restored to him as he is not willing to let them remain with their mother. He can not give any more direct information as to with whom these freedmen live in Eufaula, he himself lives with Mr
