Office Superintendent, District of Selma.
BUREAU OF REFUGEES, FREEDMEN AND ABANDONED LANDS,
SELMA, ALA., February 9th, 1867

Lieut. J.F. Conyngham
Actg. Asst. Adjt. General
Montgomery Ala.

Lieutenant
I have the honor to request that an order be issued on me to sell an Engine (Stationary) Boiler now the property of the Bureau of R.F. & A.L.

This Boiler is near three miles above the city and was used at a Powder Mill by the Rebels during the Rebellion - I was not informed of this until a few days since.

I think it best to have the property appraised and sold to the first one applying that wishes such property - I cannot well take care of it where it is.

Very Respectfully
Yr Obt. Servant
Geo. Shorkley,
1' Liut. 15th Infantry
Superintendent.
