Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of our letter of 31 ult. and to state in reply that I should deem it improper and unwarrantable to interpose objection to any course that may be thought necessary by my superiors. I should anticipate no jarring of official relations with 
Capt Grierson if he should be designated to receive Lieut. Logan's property responsibility, and I should not have the slightest dissatisfaction, or feel the slightest disposition of non-concurrence with any change that may be deemed by proper authority desirable. If Lieut. Logan is to be relieved, I could suggest no arrangement that would be more entirely satisfactory to myself. It would, however, I think, unquestionably be better if the old arrangement would be continued. I think something would be lost by the diminishing of the personal interest in Bureau matters which a officially assigned Bureau matters which a specially assigned Bureau Qr. Mr. is likely to feel
