Montgomery June 15th 1867

Maj. Gen. W. Swayne
Mil. Governor of Alabama.

General!
I to day apply to you, not for a favor, but I am begging for justice from You as the governor, (and, what I never done as a member belonging to the same society), to protect me & my right against a outragious wrong, done to me in the bitterst manner from the military authority, during your absence. In order to prevent this I respectfully ask, that you would permit me an interview before 11 o clock this morning, as at this time I shall receive the final decision. When You General d'ont do one justice, I have no other way, then to take my wife & children, & go right in the Alabama river, because I am ruined!
Hoping, that you will comply with my request, please answer, & fix a time through bearer, for
Your very Respectfully & most Obt Servant
Paul Strabath
