Charge 2nd  Violation of the 39th Article of War

Specifications 1st  In this, that he, Bvt Capt. Joseph Groves 1st Lieut V.R.C did while acting A.Q.M and C.S. at Selma Ala. retain & appropriate to his own use moneys received from the U.S for payment of Government employees in the Quarter Master, and Commissary Departments, to the amount of One hundred ($100) Dollars, more or less.

All this at Selma Ala, on or about the 1st day of June 1867.

Specifications 2d  In this, that he, Bvt Capt. Joseph Groves 1st Lieut. V.R.C. did while acting A.Q.M. & C.S. at Selma, Ala. receive from the U.S. the sum of Fifty ($50) Dollars per month each, for the services of Parker Davis Carpenter, and Lewis Scott Blacksmith, and did pay to them but Twenty five ($25) Dollars each per month.

All this at Selma Ala. on or about the 6th day of June 1867.
