General:
I have the honor to inform you that your monthly reports, of the distribution of provisions to destitute citizens, by Act of Congress, approved March 30. 1867, are required at this Office.

You will please as soon as practicable comply with this requirement. Also, inform your Sub. Asst. Com'rs and Agents to forward their Returns of provisions received and issues, and the number of destitutes (white & black) receiving supplies under said Act. The only report furnished this Office, from the State of Alabama, was rendered by Bvt. Maj. Gen. F. Browning, A.A.Q.M., pertaining to the amount of Corn purchased in the months of June and July 1867.
