Your letters of yesterday, asking for information with regard "to the treatment of union prisoners in the South" has just been received; and in reply I have to say that it is out of my power to give you other than hearsay information. as regards the treatment of union prisoners of war, but I can procure any amount of evidence of the murdering of southern union men for their avowed or supposed love for the government of the United States.
If you desire such information as last refered to. please let me know.
