Major General Swayne
Commanding District of Alabama

General,
Under Art. 5. of enclosed circular I have the honor to request that my property at Athens, Limestone Cy. Ala. may be restored to me.
At the time of the occupation of Athens by the U. S. Government the house was rented to J. Jackson for Two Hundred Dollars per annum; since then she properly has been in constant use by the Government and trusting that a fair & just rent would be allowed to me I have waited till now to renew the reclamation. The building was new and fences & out houses, stable etc in complete order, at the time above mentioned.
I have never been a soldier or aided voluntarily the rebellion & enclose my oath to that effect. _. The deed of the property are entered at the Records of Limestone Cy.
Hoping soon to have the pleasure of your kind response to the above, I remain Yours
Very Respectfully
Fr. Sulzner
Mobile Oct 30th 1867

P. S. My agent is on his way to Athens should [[strikethrough]] you deem it necessary [[/strikethrough]] he [[strikethrough]] may [[/strikethrough]] will forward you a copy of the deed. His adress is: R. Chateaux, Athens, Ala. I am advised by my agent at present in Athens that the repairs are valued at sixteen Dollars & the rent for two years at $1000,00 which is probably excessive
