for trial Dec 31st 1867 -
This action was taken by the authorities before the detachment sent by Captain Potter reached Camden.
The non-com Officer in charge upon order from Captain Potter brought the parties arrested to Selma
Upon an examination of the matter Captain Potter has ordered the parties now under bond to the charge of the civil authorities for trial, and has ordered the detachment at Camden to remain until further orders. He has notified the courts of his action.
He has also informed the courts through Solicitor Howard that they and all civil officers will be expected to discharge their full duty in arresting and bringing to trial the principle instigator of the mob David Anderson [[?]] of Camden - who has so far evaded arrest upon warrant in the hands of Sheriff McWilliams.
I have counseled Captain Potter
