Hickory Flat Ala Jany 14th 1867

Dear Sir 
I am a citizen of Randolph County Ala and as an humble citizen of the same I feel like justice to humanity prompts me to say a word to you in favor of the truly poor of our county 
I see that the state has made liberal arrangements 
for the supply of corn & bacon for the present at least
And I further more learn that there is corn at West Point for the destitute of this county and owing to the instructions contained in your circular that in no wise is any portion to be used either in Transportation or distribution the Judge of Probate is unable to get the supplies hauled from the depot owing to the fact that they are required to take county scrip which is nonetheless or nearly so from the fact that it is not receivable for any of the county due, and the supplies are now at West Point I learn on storage.
In all candor I submit it to you whether it would not be best to give to efficient men a certain prorate of the supplies for its transportation to the beats - I will say to you that I think so far as Randolph County is concerned that it is likely that she will fail almost entirely to avail herself of the benificence of
