Mobile April 19th 1867.

Affidavit of George Crawford in the matter of the State of [[strikethrough]] R B Thomas Crawford [[/strikethrough]] R. B. Thomas

George Crawford makes oath and says that on the 14th day of this month about the hour of one o'clock in the city of Mobile he was on Hamilton Street of this city proceeding towards government Street.  On reaching Government Street he saw a "Car' standing in the Street surrounded by a large crowd. the horses of said car being removed from the car and tied near the sidewalk and upon reaching the car he saw R. B. Thomas seated in said Car and heard the Conductor of said Car say, a"s long as he the said Thomas was in the car he would not drive on."  That remarks were made by the white men around the car to take the said Thomas out of the car and mob him" That in a short time said Thomas came out of the car to the south side of Government where a number of Colored Persons were standing. That [[strikethrough]] upon argument [[/strikethrough]] he returned to the car the second time and went back where the colored people were standing. That the horses were hitched then to the Car and the white people rushed immediately into the car and That he "Crowford" saw one Charles Farley
