Office Sub-Asst. Com. B. R. & A. L. Sub. District of Mobile Mobile, Ala. July 1st 1867. O. D. Kinsman Sub. Asst. Com. B. R. & A. L. Montgomery, Ala. Sir:- A colored man, named McCann, has stated at this office that he believes he knows the present hiding place of John Orrick, the murderer of Alexander Webb, the colored register at Greensboro. His asserted knowledge rest on his general acquaintance with the neighborhood, and an idea of the places where Orrick would be likely to hide. The man was brought here by L. S. Berry, who seemed to have great faith in him, and I promised to report his statement. Very Respectfully yr obt. servt. Geo. H. Tracy Capt. & B. Maj. U.S.A., Sub-Asst. Comr.
