Clinton Green Co Ala July 26th 1867

Gen'l Wager Swane

Dear Sir
I advise you at the request of a Freedwoman Creasy Blackburne, who desires your interference to restore to her, her two children, ages respectively nine and seven years, forcibly taken from her as She States, in the month of May 1866, by her former Master - Benjamin Blackburne of Tuscaloosa Co Ala and are still held in servitude by him under the pretext that they were bound to him by an agent of the Freedmans Bureau. Something that no agent has a right to do as the mother was able to support her own children I will state for your information, that Creasy's employer will support and properly care for her children and she very naturally wishes to have them with her, as she does not know to what kind of treatment they are subjected by Blackburne as she thinks he Rups them from her Simpley to gratify a spirit of revenge against her for leaving his employ. Creasy requests that you will send an man to Blackburn to release the children since the order to Mr. H Thacker of this place her previous employer who will paying to Blackburn & get the children.

An early reply is respectfully solicited
Respectfully yours
Geo. L. Thomas
