General:-
I have the honor to state that, yesterday, I was called upon by two members of the School Board of this City, Mr. Norton and Mr. Clark.  They stated that they were authorized to make a distinct experience of the willingness of the Board to include hereafter in its operations the Freedmen's Schools, and to extend to them the same system as the white schools are now under. The plan of the Board contemplates separate school houses for the Freedmen, but the same aid and support will be given to the colored as is now given to the white schools, and they propose to exercise over them the same care and discretion with regard to discipline, management, provision of teachers, &c. Mr. Clark, who is one of the Editors of the Register, did most of the talking, but in all that he said Mr. Norton expressed his entire and earnest concurrence.
