Genl Wager Swayne

Dear Sir

I have a great many complaints made to me of late by Employees in regard to their Laborers having this work without consulting their Employers, and returning when it suits their convenience, and sometimes not returning at all, It is now the critical time of the year when their work is the most Invisible, If they fail to track a crop this year there will be suffering. I try to inform this fact on them to the best of my ability, for It is for their good that I plead with them to stick to their work at least until the crop is made, But in many Instances to no effect
I have been asking in the capacity as their agt Through Maj CW Driver who has approved my acts since the first of January 1866 with satisfaction to both white and colored so far as I know
Pleas inform me whether your general orders No 12 is still in force, or what steps to take in the premises

Very Respectfully
Your Obt Srvt
T. J. Wright
