Auburn June 28th 1867 To whom it may concern, I do certify that I have known Mrs Wilkerson for Several years, I have ever looked on her, as an industrious, energetic, persevering woman, labouring hard to sustain her self and family; But unfortunate for her she did not have a Husband that properly sympathised with her in her efforts to sustain herself and family. Mr. Wilkerson is a man that is fond of the inebriating bowl, and when drinking is sometimes very cruel in his treatment towards his wife (so say reports) and I have often seen marks of violence on her person which led me to believe the reports were true.
