Major General Swayne

Dear Sir,
This will be handed to you by A.A. Griffin Esq. who visits you as matters personal to himself, & who I beg leave to commend to your kind consideration as a man of truth & his integrity.
It is said that Mr Griffin is to be or has been removed from the possition of Commissary Agent for this place, & as he is a man of very limited means, in feeble health, the office or position is one of importance to him, & he hopes to be able to satisfy you that he has discharged its duties honestly & faithfully.
I take great pleasure in saying that I have known Mr Griffin for twelve years & can safely testify to his high character & farther that have herd less complaint
