Loachapoka Ala Sept 16, 1867 Agent Freedman's Bureau Montgomery, Ala Sir: There is at my house a negro woman with three small children - The woman is afflicted with a disease the womb, which in the opinion of all the physicians who have examined her, will always disable her from earning a living by her own efforts - She has done no work at all for the past twelve months: During all this time, except about 3 months have furnished her with rations, and provided for her medical attention. I can not longer in justice to myself and family provide for her and therefore request that the Bureau shall assist me in bearing her expenses. I am willing that she shall remain on my place as her mother is here and I feel some considerable interest in her welfare. The children of the woman are none of them able to work - and of conservatory must all be provided for- Please inform me what course I shall take and what help I may expect from the Bureau. Your's Respectfully Ruffin Webb
