You will confer at great favor upon myself personally, by the appointment of Robert A. Wilson Esq. to be Assistant Commissioner of the Freedmens Bureau for the station expected soon to be vacated by Major Pierce at Demopolis: or such other as you may think proper.

Mr. W. is a lawyer by profession, well qualified for any position in your gift and altogether worthy of Confidence and respect. He is a Northern man. Was in the service of the Government during the war, on duty in the State Department.
