General I have the honor respectfully to report as follows: I [[strikethrough]] fee [[/strikethrough]] am reluctantly compelled from a sense of the necessities of the case, to state that the further continuance of Lieut. Dunn in command of the detachment at Greenville, Ala, would in my opinion, be prejudicial to the welfare of loyal men in that place, and would endanger a collision between the loyal and disloyal elements. Fraught with serious consequences. My opinion is founded upon two considerations. 1. The openly avowed sympathy, and constant association of Lieut. Dunn, with the most violent partizans, of the opposition. and 2. The personal conduct of Lieut. Dunn, calculated to destroy respect for his official character, and nullify
