Dr. Schatz has held himself aloof from politics, devoting himself exclusively to his professional duties, he seems to me as one very desirable for the position for which I recommend him, seeing that he has no other office hunger which seems to be one of the results of a residence in this state. I greatly desire to purge the Bureau from all party affiliations, knowing such to be the spirit of your instructions, and also because it brings a much instance of peace between the races in this state.
