This will be handed to you by my worthy and respected friend Doctr P Bryce Superintendant of the Alabama Insane Hospital, located at Tuscaloosa.

This humane institution erected but few years since, at a cost to the State of over Three hundred thousand dollars has been (under the skilful and able Superintendancy of Doctr Bryce) of very great benefit to the unfortunate Mentally imbecile of Alabama.

Since the Colored people of the State were freed ample provisions have been made for the reception of that Class of our population. quite a Number of Wards having been appropriated for their Comfort and Keeping
