Soldiers who went with me.") brought an old freedman doctor "Green Harrington" to my office some three weeks since. Green said he knew Lawrence well and could tell him no matter how he disguised himself and farther stated that he would not rest until he found Lawrence and reported the fact to me. Green returned to my office on Thursday evening June 12th 1868 in an excited manner and said that Lawrence and some three actors had attacked his three sons the previous night and that they came near being killed. and that he had reliable information that Lawrence and his party would make another attempt to get them that following night. he beged me to go out and save his Boys lives and assured me that I could not fail to find Laurence. I immediately sent out for some half aged
Freedmen who volunteered to go with me and as Green said that his Boys were laying out watching for Laurence and to prevent them mistaking us for their enemies. I sent Green on and found him on hours stash with orders to tell his Boys that I was coming to defend them it is two miles from my office to where his Boys live in Frank., Co. Ga.
