Genl
I have the honor to ask that you order me to Hainsville [[Hayneville]], Lowdnes County, Ala as Asst Sub Asst Commissioner Bu. R.F. & A.L. the Same position I now hold in Chambers County.

The Union men of that County have petitioned his Excellency Gov Smith to appoint me Sheriff of that County which position I will succeed in getting.

As there will be but little business in the Sheriffs Office until Jan 1869. on account of the Stay laws. I beg to hold on to the Office I now hold as long as there is any need for such an Office.

There is no Bureau Officer in Lowdnes County and the Union men want one established and, if necessary will petition you for it

I am Genl Yours Truly

Agent B R F & A L
