Thom, Defendants witness
I told Charles after Mr. Jones left for town, that Mr. Jones said if he (Charles) did not sign the contract, he (Charles) or Mr. Jones had to leave the place, Mr. Jones did not tell me to tell Charles so, I did it of my own accord, because he asked me what Mr Jones & I I told Charles at the same time not to leave the place. To stay and work his crop, I told him he must shove up so as to get a head, he said was going to do it. This was on Monday evening, he said he was not going to leave the place, that he would not leave to save the old man, life, that he was going to stay and get his drop, I not only do not believe Mr Jones wanted Charles to leave, I know he did not want him to leave.
