0698 [[stamp]] THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF THE UNITED STATES [[/stamp]] Freedmen's Hospital, Garland. Ala. February 5th 1868 Lieut A.C. Taylor 15th U.S. Ifty. Sub. Asst Com'r B.R.F. & A.L. Greenville, Ala. Lieutenant: I have the honor to state that Mr. W.T. Ball, of Conecuh Co. Ala - has related to me, that Neil S. McIntosh, a Soldier of the War of 1812, aged Eighty (80) years - is suffering the most abject destitution in the above mentioned county - that he has applied to the Judge of Probate, for assistance, and can obtain none - (There is no poor house in Conecuh Co.) He desires that the Commanding General be made acquainted with the above facts, with a view to the adoption of some means for his comfort and support.
