Gen. Hayden
Montgomery, Ala
Sir
Pardon me for trespassing upon your valuable time, About the date of the removal of Gen. Swayne from Montgomery, & at his request I wrote him upon the subject of destitution &c. of Blount County which may not have fallen under your notice. I will state again, there is no such thing in this county as destitution, corn is plenty at 50 cents per bushel & labor in demand at from $10 to 15 per month, any person white or black can get employment at remunerative prices hoping that no money will be wasted in furnishing rations to Blount County.
I have the honor to be
Very Respectfully
Your obt Servant
