School and depend upon her patrons for all remuneration. A few weeks later and Mr Buckley wrote to me again. Saying that he had just recd a letter from Miss Thompson at Columbiana, who was expecting a sallery from the Bureau for teaching. Mr Buckley replied to said letter through my office in at least a very firm manner. Saying that myself and Miss Thompson had previously been informed that the Bureau could not pay a sallary to teachers for service rendered after 1st Sept. 1867. Several of her patrons complained to me that she charged one dollar per month for each Schooler in advance. I justified her in this course. She ocupied a very sutable building for a School house without any charges. She reported her School to me each month. I was never asked to make out any vouchers for her. I did not see any vouchers in her favor, and I did not understand that she ever had any just claim whatever upon the Bureau

Trusting my explanation will prove satisfactory
