If consistent with the interest of your Dept I would most respectfully solicit to be appointed an Officer in the B.R.F&  A.L. and should my application meet with your favourable approval, I would respectfully ask to be assigned to duty at Tuscaloosa in this State -

I served with the Army of the Potomac from August 1861, to Sept. 1862. As 2nd Lieut. in the 88th N.Y. Vols, was shot through left lung and had several ribs and shoulder blades broken at the battle of Fair Oaks, Va; Was appointed 2nd Lieut in the V.R. Corps. in Decr 1863. promoted 1st Lieut Nov. 1864. and served as Adjutant, 10" Regt V.R.C. until Decr 1865. Was assigned to duty in the B.R.F & A.L. in Decr 1865. and served as A.A.Q.M. & A.C.S. at Demopolis. Ala, up to the date of my muster out of service - January 1" 1868.
