In obedience to your letter of the 17th ult. copy enclosed herewith - I have this day employed John Lee Rogers, clerk to aid me in the discharge of my duties in Limestone County, with an office at Athens in that county; and have the honor to request his appointment as such by the commissioner. The oath of office, as prescribed by law is transmitted herewith.
Mr. Rogers is a careful, intelligent and honest man, and I have the utmost confidence that all business entrusted to him will be transacted with fidelity.
