I have the honor to respectfully request that an Agt for the Bu. be appointed for the county of Macon to be stationed at Tuskegee.

Appeals for relief for the destitute reach me daily from Macon County; also complaints against employers for withholding wages, and committing other wrongs upon Freedmen are very common. Without an agent stationed in that county it is impossible for me to afford relief to the destitute or protection to those who complain of maltreatment. Owing to my limited acquaintance in that county I am unable (if proper for me to do so) to suggest a suitable person living in that county to fill the office), should you determine to establish an agency there. There would be no trouble however to
