I respectfully request to be informed what action, if any, has been taken on the application of Jacob Allen (freedmen) for Transportation for himself - wife - two daughters &  one boy - from Mobile to Castlebury, Conchee [[Conecuh]] Co. Ala. The application was favorably considered and forwarded by my predecessor Bvt Maj Gillett July 3rd 1868. 
Allen and his wife are over 70 years old and in very destitute circumstances, and have information from the place they desire to go, that they will be properly cared for.

The whole family have been dependent upon Government Charity during the last year.
