 I am directed by Brevet Major=General O. O. Howard, U.S.A., Commissioner, &c., to inform you that the claim for Arrears of Pay & Bounty of John Ross late Nurse U.S.S. [[strikethrough]] Co.[[/strikethrough]] Octorara [[strikethrough]] Regt U.S.C.[[/strikethrough]] is allowed, and the amount ($33.34) is in the hands of Bvt. Brig.=Gen George W. Balloch, Chief D.O. of this Bureau, for remittance to claimant. 

The claim in the above case was forwarded by J. C. Hendrix, Esq late S.A.C. Bureau &c at Montgomery, Ala:
