Nov 11. 67  Complains that this morning [[strikethrough]] that [[/strikethrough]] he went to hunt oposems & got back before sun rise to commence work (he being in a contract with Danl B Nickoldson for this year) that D B Nickoldson said he ought to have got back before when he said he got back as soon as he ever did when he had been hunting DBN said you are a liar - A Nickolds said he was not a liar. that there was always a fuss there when D.B. Nickoldson kicked him & when Alix remonstrated with him for kicking him, he D B Nickoldson to up a piece of a rail & struck him on the left eye  - (mark shows very plain) | Referd to Jno W Leak with request that I be notified of day of trial. that I will be present. |

That he has given bonds for his appearance to Court That he had no notice from Mr McIntosh to keep off from his plantation | Referd to Jn W Leak J.P. with request that I be present at investigation to be held on the 18th inst. |

| Sarah Leak Col vs John Ellaby Wh | Rockingham NC Nov 13th  Complains that she contracted with Jno Ellaby to work for him this year with her son at $6.00 pr month that she commenced in January and that Mr Ellaby in April turned her son off because he could not whip him. | Rockingham Nov 13th 67  Wrote to Mr Ellaby that he must pay for all time served  13 Parties settled this day |

| Allen D Berry Col vs Jas B Cottingham - Wh | Rockingham Nov 14 67  States that ententered into an agreement with J B Cottingham to make a crop this year at 1/2 of all he made. That he Cottingham turned him off & hired his crop gathered. That his Cottinghams wife broke his lock to her crib. &c | Wrote J B Cottingham to arbitrate, with Allen the breaking of the lock must be paid for ither to Allen satisfaction or go to the Courts.  Nov 25 wrote to Cottingham to rept to this office with Allen on friday 29th for settlement  |
