Dear Doris.

Your letter of May 15 written just after Sidney's return is just received. Also received the paper he mailed from S- yesterday afternoon, after I had sent my air mail letter to you We seem to have sent off all our letters to each other just before receiving one. The S- paper answered nearly all the questions I had been asking and now your letter this morning relieves my anxiety about Maude & Ralph. It is a great blessing to be born with that kind of a temperament. Too bad Sidney and I did not have it if it is a family trait somewhere in the ancestry of the Blake-Fay Tribe. I had been feeling very anxious about Ralph but there seems to have been no need. I can be composed on the outside but inside there are sometimes terrible castrophes going on. Wish it were not so. I envy the phlegmatic. Presume your father and Sidney were more upset than the others. It is possible though that Ralph may feel the effects of it more later on. It seems a very terrible blow; the more so from the
