Dear Children,

Maybe you'd like to hear again from the Thompson family. After this I shall not doubt your interest in us even if you don't write, I just can't get over your writing & offering to help. I always knew you were good hearted Sidney from the time you were only a boy but I did'nt know you were so unselfish nor that you felt so much interest in us. And this applies to Doris too for she could have vetoed it if she had not been unselfish too. I dont feel as forlorn nor as blue as I did before that letter came. I can tell you. However I'd much prefer to die than to accept charity or live off from any one. And I wouldn't want to borrow unless I knew I could pay it back with interest. But don't you worry about us, we are getting along all right and the prospect for us looks brighter than it did awhile ago.
