Dear Doris & Sidney.

This letter would have been sent much sooner after the receipt of your nice Xmas package, if I had not feared for the walls of the L.A post office. Thought it might prove to be the last straw. L.A. has been growing so rapidly that the present one is entirely too small though it seemed very large when it was built. We are growing at the rate of 100,000 a year how is that? [[strikethrough]] Well though it is [[/strikethrough]] And this Xmas season [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] with the great increase in mail they could hardly find room for it so I thought I'd wait till the Xmas jam was over. Its a good excuse any way dont you think. But now I'll hasten to write and thank you and also apologize for not having written you to say that E and I were not going to do anything about Xmas this year. I intended to & to write Ralph too but I neglected it until too late and now I feel as if I had "obtained money under false pretenses" We are always giving each other something intended to promote cleanliness. You & [[strikethrough]] I [[/strikethrough]] Doris and the nice towel & wash cloth will incite me to fresh efforts. I did my bit with the bath spray & soap
