The tablecloth was a real surprise. It is very festive and also suits the interior decoration! Likewise pillows.

grandpa gave us a painting of a woods scene in autumn (probably from Forest Preserve near here). He still hasn't got the frame he wants for it. We gave him that book of photographs, "The Family of man", & he seems to really like it.

We got a papper mill also! Jack got the first volume of Marse & Feshbach, a text on mathematics of physics (2 vol) of which there is only one library copy, with the following inscription, "We know you can't afford this, but neither can anybody else!" It is a very valuable reference book for him, & many evenings he has left home to consult it.

Marguerite & Grandpa are leaving for Louisiana tomorrow. I expect we shall be here almost a week longer. We have to be back on Thursday of next week.

It is too late to wish you merry Christmas, so I will combine my wishes to happy new year. and I hope you do love a happy me, too. I love your Christmas packages. It's such fun opening them.
I wish we could somehow arrange to get all the parents together.

The address book and photo album will be put to instant use, as soon as the Christmas clutter clears, & all the new addresses & photos have been scavenged out. I've tried to get good pictures of Jim, Shirley and the Mrazes (Shirley's parents) since you have never met these people.

We have spent the evening at the Mrazes [[Mrazes']], where we had Christmas dinner. We couldn't eat until 7ish because Jim had to work on Christmas, one of those things his newspaper boss could require. There were many guests - Jack, myself, Marguerite, Grandpa, two nice little ladies, friends of Marguerite's, Jo & Elsie Starck, Jim & Shirley, three relatives (a couple & a man) of the Mrazes, & the Mrazes.
