Dear folks,

Well, I'm sitting up waiting for Jack to come home from grading the physics hour exams, the same which I took tonight. The ten or so instructors get together right after the test (7:00-8:00 p.m.) and grade until finished, each one specializing on one problem. I am quite glad this method is used (aside from the fact that it is necessary for fairness in the grading of over 200 people) because Jack would spend much2more conscientious time on the tests if he had to do them at home. As it is he is quite irritated to have to give up a whole evening so close to his qualifying. But of course most of the other instructors are taking qualifying too! That should make a happy time.

The test was quite easy, which is a little disappointing after the time I put in studying, especially since I made a stupid mistake. The curve will be very high and my grade will be about average if I am to judge by what the klunks in the class did. But that's o.k.[[strikethrough]] q [[/strikethrough]] if it doesn't embarrass Jack too much.

We hear today that Penelope has just had her kittens: four lovely Siamese. One of these days we must pay her a visit.

I am certainly delighted to hear of Dolores' final good fortune, and will wait for her word. It will be nice for her to be able to stop work, too.
