hearted about my stupid error, for I got a 99, one of the few top grades in the whole class! Approximately 40% got D or flunk, and the average was 50, so I guess my fears that it was too easy an exam were unfounded. The fellow I always talk to in the class also got [[strikethrough]] in the high nineties [[/strikethrough]] 100, & I am very glad, since his morale is poor. There was one funny fellow his fellow students call "Little Egypt" for some reason (?), who got the amazing grade of 1 on the test (difficult to achieve!). On top of his paper he wryly wrote, "I'm taking the next boat to Egypt." I hope this means that many quit the course, so the teaching job may improve.

Jack showed some interest in adding something but I don't think he will now...he is sleeping to recover from last night & has been for several hours. Fortunately the qualifying is from 7-10 p.m. tomorrow night, so he can stay up late tonight studying when all is peaceful, then sleep tomorrow. Fortunately he has no class to teach tomorrow. The lady upstairs, Rose, is being as helpful as she can to keep her noisy child away from above Jack.

I have an hour exam in Russian in two hours so had better get to it.

Love, Doris

P.S. We certainly got your fir balsam pillow, and thanks a lot!
