Last weekend our friend Fred Davis & his German girlfriend Inge came down for the football game - her first (she doesn't care for football either) & we put her up. They took up too much of Jack's time but we enjoyed their visit. Inge has only been here a few months & is about 20; Fred is 27. She is timid but learning. He imported her, quite literally, after meeting her while stationed in Germany. They tentatively will marry, but she is still undecided now.

In the Russian book, a lesson contains about 5 short paragraphs & about 25 new words. The class contains under 12 people so the teacher converses with each of us more than once a day. There is little written work, mostly oral, but she does have us do things like conjugating all verbs in chapter or declining all nouns (present tense only of verbs) on paper.

In all my classes the people are friendly - I talk to several in calculus & Russian & don't know those in my new physics section yet. There are few girls except in Russian.

Jack is wearing Dad's shirts every day. Since he teaches he can really use them! Trying to think of things he needs for X-mas... he mentions a nice stapler to keep his papers together. I'll try to think of something I need by next week,

Love, Doris
