Dear folks, 

We weren't certain whether or not your address was 212 Seaver, so we took the safe course. Hope this doesn't reach you too late, and that you had a good trip north. 

We are going to Chicago this week end, the last before our big trip. After we return from vacation the trips to Chicago will be few and far between. 

Glad to hear Julia is better.

I hope you have no thefts while you are gone. Better to leave things with a neighbor if they are really valuable. A thief knows all the common hiding places. We are leaving [[strikethrough]] sil sterlin [[/strikethrough]] stainless and anything else we think might appeal with neighbors. I did have a theft the other day, from my office while I wasout a few minutes: my wallet, containing $20 and keys. A real pain. 

Did I tell you, some new neighbors moved upstairs, more Latvians [[strikethrough]] 3/4 [[/strikethrough]]? They were friends of the first Latvians, naturally because there are so few Letts around. Very nice people: a man doing research in biology at the university (has Ph.D.) on the effect of radiation on tissues; he is about 50 years old almost, or 40-some, and complains that he is too old to have young children, which he has: he married a much younger refugee fromYugoslavia, and they have two, one two years and one 9 months. They are very clean, which the previous tenants were not, and they are despairing as they mop up. Very jolly and talkative. We see quite a bit of both Latvian families, the ones on the top floor taking care of our cat when we go to Chicago. Also, the generous people upstairs directly have asked us to use their
