Dear folks,

We sort of agree that Cape Hatteras might be a bit too much of a good thing. What trips we take will depend on how busy things are for us in D.C., and they may be too busy indeed. As to the exact time of arrival I can't say. We should make it [[strikethrough]] by [[/strikethrough]] before Sunday night, that's about all.

We had a very nice week end in Chicago. It was certainly a relief to finish class work. You may not be surprised (Jack was not), but I certainly was, to find that I got an "A" in the course. We replaced our car's top on Saturday forenoon. The top lasts about 2 years and costs $25, [[strikethrough]] which [[/strikethrough]] and is much better than American convertible tops: it has a rubber lining. At its worst it only leaked to the extent of staining the roof upholstery a bit, & we have had steady rain on a weakened top for about a month before the replacement could be made. On the way home, under the new top, we ran into the most torrential rain I have ever seen & traveled slowly in this rain for maybe half an hour. We really should have pulled off the road, which most cars did,
