Dear folks,

This letter has certainly had a hard time getting written. We have been out visiting people at night, for one thing; and I had a lot of math homework last night. At lunch today I found Jack in a fix--scrubbing oil [[strikethrough]] sp [[/strikethrough]] spots off the car. Previously he had found mould on a shoe, dabbed it with clorox, got clorox on his bathrobe, washed his bathrobe, etc. I moved the shoes from the floor. It is humid in town, believe me! Then I pasted green stamps in our book. At last, we have enough [[strikethrough]] t [[/strikethrough]] and a little over for the electric hair clippers! We will get it Monday. I gave him a hair-cut on the Leondis clippers last week, so it won't be needing one again immediately. It took 1 1/2 hours, but Mary can cut it down to 1/2 hour, which I shall eventually learn. Also, his hair had been without cutting for over a month, which means it was a long, shapeless bush.

The math course is not yet [[strikethrough]] hea [[/strikethrough]] hard, and I manage to get some homework done at work on breaks. The teacher has the reputation of marking very hard; he gave only 1 A and 1 B last semester in one class, I was told. He is finicky about details, but I appreciate that because the details can sometimes mean a right or wrong answer (more often later). One lad already is having me assist him with homework before class. All engineers, me the only girl.

Sounds as if [[strikethrough]] your [[/strikethrough]] you were really gentlemen farmers.

Well, here it is Friday and still as busy as ever. We plan to leave for Chicago tomorrow morning early, visit some friends in Bartlett (20 milees out of Chicago) on the way out, for lunch and the afternoon, and then into Chicago. Hope it's good weather, for then we may go swimming in the Lake. Jack may, that is, since the water around Chicago now resembles the water around Boston, I suspect. It's been raining a good deal here lstely, whatever that will do to the situation.
