Dear folks,

This has been a very hectic week, both in the office & out of it (particularly in it: towards the end of the semesters the profs. like to have their best several (per prof.) term papers, up to 13 p.p. in length, mimeoed in up to 150 copies). Outside, last week end we, mainly I, took apart my bicycle & began renewing it. I have removed much paint with paint remover & scraper, de-chromed the handle, & finally began to repaint with Rustoleum (black & white). Much of it sits in the bath tub; I have to give all the white parts 2 coats & have get the black parts to go. It sits outside all the time & was fairly rusty, but by sometime next week should be under me again.

I had another driving lesson (2nd) last Sunday and did much better, so that I had the confidence to drive home from the country and even park the car in the yard. It is so easy to steer, and the 4-speed shift is becoming much easier. You don't go into 4th gear until you are going over 40 m.p.h. I still get all upset when there's any traffic and can't decide what to do without thinking hard about it. After this I will try to drive around in town more and get control of the traffic situation better. I think I will put a sign on saying I'm a beginner, though, or plenty of people will get mad!
