Dear folks,

Glad to hear that you succeeded in tracking down some of the culprits and recovering some coins. I guess at first the neighborhood's past robberies made you think it quite a mystery.

[[strikethrough]] What did you send in the Easter box? It seems to me we have not received it. [[/strikethrough]] We got the Easter box -- thanks for the dainty scarf! We did get the Readers Digests. Thanks!

Last week end Grandpa and Marguerite came down from Chicgo on Friday night. They could not stay with us, but remained at a hotel down in Champaign. They took us out for supper the first night, and then we all visited the Leondises. They went to bed early, and we planned to all go to Allerton Park the next day. Allerton Park is about 25 miles to the southwest, an immense estate (4000 acres) left perpetually tended for the state people. It has at least a dozen scattered formal gardens, with statues everywhere, and many deliberately unkept woods and fields; there is one large manmade pond in front of the central lodge (used for many conferences by the University and others), which is a three-story brick manor. The Leondises, including their dog, and we [[strikethrough]] three [[/strikethrough]] four wandered fairly widely in beautiful weather. Grandpa and the children probably walked their legs off. He took a number of color photos while we weren't watching which we look forward to seeing.

That evening we fed Marguerite and Grandpa and had them for the remainder of the evening. They gave us breakfast Sunday morning and took off for Chicago. Then we had to work (Jack did) to catch up on homework! I think they had a nice time, and the weather was [[strikethrough]] u [[/strikethrough]] uniformly good.

Not so come Monday. It is cold and blustery now
